I was at my LGS today and saw a Winchester 1400 Mk II in 12 gauge with a 28" barrel. According to the serial number it was made about 1983. It"s very clean and looks like it was taken care of. I can get it for $225 OTD. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this gun? (Not this particular gun, but one like it--LOL) Sent from my Commodore 64 running Windoze 95

I bought one of those from a local pawn shop in about 1976 and paid more than that for it back then.

Gotcha. I think $225 is a good price. What was your experience with it, if any?Sent from my Commodore 64 running Windoze 95

I have owned a 1400 (not a MKll) for over 30 years. I bought it used. Put many rounds through it. Shot skeet every weekend for 5 or 6 years. Never had any trouble with it.

It was a very good gun, it"s one of those that I kind of regret selling. I remember why I got rid of it, it only held three rounds total. I thought I had to have two extra rounds in the mag, so it went down the road and an 870 Remington became it"s replacement.
I sold my Mark II I had owned since 1976 to help pay for Abby"s first Perazzi. ( I sold several guns, tools and a car to pay for Abby"s first perazzi) I loved that gun, but it had 2 drawbacks. First it was perma-plugged, 3 rounds only. Second, the plug was plastic and was extremely difficult to find a replacement when it broke
